Garment Care: How to Care for Embroidered Garments

Turnaround Time & Ordering

1. Wash on Gentle Settings

To protect your embroidery threads and prevent fabric stress, wash on:

Cold water
Gentle cycle
Inside-out

Avoid harsh detergents and bleach — they weaken thread color and integrity.

🚫 2. Avoid High Heat

Heat is the #1 killer of embroidery longevity.

Do NOT:

Use high-heat drying
Iron directly over embroidery
Leave embroidered items in a hot car

If ironing is needed:

Turn the garment inside-out
Place a towel between the iron and the embroidery
Use low heat only

🌬️ 3. Air Dry When Possible

Air drying helps maintain:

Thread texture
Stitch density
Fabric shape

If using a dryer, use low or no heat.

🧽 4. Spot Clean When Necessary

For stains on or near embroidery:

Dab gently with mild soap + water
Avoid scrubbing the stitched area
Never use bleach pens or stain removers directly on threads

📏 5. Avoid Stretching the Embroidered Area

Stretching the fabric can distort the design. When hanging or storing:

Fold the embroidery section flat
Avoid pulling or tugging the stitched area

🧺 BONUS TIP: Wash Similar Fabrics Together

Heavy items (jeans, towels, zippers) can rub and damage threads. Wash embroidered garments with light, soft items to extend the lifetime of the design.
